Regulation

1. IDENTITY

Granfondo La Fausto Coppi is a competitive amateur cycling event that has reached its 36th edition. All foreign cyclists in possession of a valid membership card issued by their country’s Cycling Federation or recognized by the UCI, can partecipate in the event. If not in possession of a membership card, it is possible to activate a daily license (point 8 below).

29 June 2025

3. PRE-RACE CHECKS

Verification of membership cards, delivery of the number and the race
pack will take place in Cuneo in Piazza Galimberti on

  • Friday 27 June 2025 – from 4.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m.
  • Saturday 28 June 2025 – from 10.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m.
  • Sunday 29 June 2025 – from 05.45 a.m. to 06.30 a.m.
  • Please note: It is mandatory to show your original 2025 membership card (also for groups) and your competitive medical cerificate, otherwise the race pack will be given without the bib.

4. MEETING and DEPARTURE

Sunday 29 June 2025 / Cuneo, Piazza Galimberti.

  • 06.15 a.m. grid opening (only competitors wearing a red bracelet will be allowed
    access)
  • 07.00 La Fausto Coppi start.

5. SOLIDARITY GRID

There will be a solidarity grid in favour of the project ‘SALVIAMO LE STRADE DI MONTAGNA’. 200 bibs are available at a cost of € 120.00 each.

6. THE ROUTES:

  • MEDIOFONDO 111km / 2510 m+: Cuneo, Cervasca, Bernezzo, Caraglio, Valgrana,
    Monterosso Grana, Pradleves, Castelmagno, Demonte, Valdieri, Borgo San Dalmazzo, Cuneo
  • GRANFONDO 177km / 4125 m+: Cuneo, Tarantasca, Busca, Cosigliole di Saluzzo, Piasco, Venasca, Brossasco, Valmala, Rossana, Villar san Costanzo, Dronero, Montemale,
    Valgrana, Monterosso Grana, Pradleves, Castelmagno, Demonte, Valdieri, Borgo S. Dalmazzo, Cuneo
  • FAUNIERA CLASSIC 101km / 2,187 m+: Cuneo, Cervasca, Bernezzo, Caraglio, Valgrana, Monterosso Grana, Pradleves, Castelmagno, Demonte, Borgo San Dalmazzo, Cuneo (without ranking, but with time recording and final time ranking in alphabetical order).

7. PARTICIPATION RULES

  • partecipation in the Granfondo La Fausto Coppi 2025 is subject to approval. The Organising Commihee reserves the right to accept or refuse registration or to exclude a registered competitor who may damage the image of the event.
  • athletes from the age of 71 are out of the individual classification and may only
    do the Mediofondo or the FAUNIERA Classic routes.
  • a competitive medical certificate for cycling is required for participating in the event as per ex DM 18/02/1982 (competitive medical certificates for other sports such as triathlon, duathlon, football, athletics, etc. cannot be used).
  • as per the F.C.I. rules called “Norme Ahuative”, professional cyclists, Élite (men and women) and under 23s are only admihed for promotional purposes and subject to invitation by the Organising Commihee and to regular authorisation from their respective sports clubs. They will not be included in the ranking.
  • the Organising Commihee of La Fausto Coppi does not accept requests for registration from those who have been subjected to sanctions and/or disqualified for doping of more than 6 months.

 

8. REGISTRATION REGULARISATION

It is compulsory for all participants to upload on the ENDU planorm by June 10th their 2025 membership card and medical certificate for competitive cycling for registered athletes / only the medical certificate for competitive cycling for non-registered athletes (daily card required).

9. LACK OF CYCLING CARD

athletes without a membership card can activate a daily card at a cost of € 10.00 for insurance coverage during the event (cost to be borne by the participant). To receive issue the daily card, be it for the Granfondo, Mediofondo and Fauniera Classic routes, a medical certificate for competitive cycling (to be uploaded on the ENDU portal by 10 June) is required.

10. TECHNOLOGICAL FRAUD

the event will apply the 2019 rules “Norme Ahuative” for national cycling and amateur activities. As per the UCI and FCI Regulations, paragraph 1.3.010 and 12.1.013 bis – Technological Fraud, the race jury, with the technical support of the organisation, is authorised to carry out random or systematic checks. Noncompliance or refusal to submit to the required technical checks shall result in immediate disqualification and reporting to the competent bodies and authorities. Furthermore, as per the UCI and FCI Regulations (Implementation Rules point 1.1.9.) it is hereby made known that the use of any two-way radio equipment is strictly forbidden.

11. ONLINE REGISTRATION

on the ENDU portal at https://api.endu.net/r/i/92458 until
midnight on Tuesday 24 June.
In registering the competitor declares: to be in possession of the medical certificate according to D.M. of 18/02/82; to be in possession of a regular membership card to the
Italian Cycling Federation or to a sports promotion body (EPS) valid for the year 2025 and to have read and fully accept the present regulations.

  • the registration will only be considered valid when the membership card and medical certificate for the year 2025 are uploaded on the ENDU portal.

12. REGISTRATION DEADLINE

deadline for registration is 24 June at 23:59.

13. PARTICIPATION FEE

the participation fee includes the following services/goods:

celebratory jersey of the event (it is mandatory to wear the 2025 celebratory jersey during the whole race under penalty of disqualification and requirement to abandon the competition), race number, mechanical assistance on the route, aid stations, medical assistance during the race, giveaways, assistance in case of abandoning the race.

14. COSTS

The cost of registration for the event is

  •  € 50.00 first 500 places
  •  € 55.00 until 31/12/2025
  •  € 65.00 until 31/03/2025
  •  € 75.00 from 01/04/2025 to 23/06/2025, subject to availability
  •  Nr. 200 places at € 120.00 ea. for registrations in favour of the project ‘SALVIAMO LE
    STRADE DI MONTAGNA’ with the right to start in the solidarity grid.
  •  TEAM cumulative registrations: for cumulative registrations one free entry for every 10 paying athletes will be automatically recognised by the ENDU planorm.

15. CANCELLATION OF PARTICIPATION

should a competitor be unable to participate in the event, the participation fee will be kept valid only for the following year. Notification must reach iscrizioni@faustocoppi.net by 31/05/2025. The registration fee is non-refundable.

16. CANCELLATION OF THE EVENT

The cases of impossibility of holding the event that lead to its cancellation are cases of force majeure (acts of God) , fortuitous events, or any other kind of event not ahributable to the organisers, such as:

  • Atmospheric events such as: snow, hail, cloudbursts, ice formation on the road or
    other weather conditions that make the event impracticable;
  • Calamitous events such as: earthquakes, floods, major fires, natural or man-made
    disasters;
  • Measures or provisions on the part of the Public Authorities, or of cycling promotion bodies or sports federations;
  • Any other cause or event, not ahributable to the organisers, that makes it necessary to cancel the event. A cause or event not ahributable to the organisers is considered to be any fact or event of natural or man-made origin that is not due to the organisers’ wilful misconduct or negligence, or to the occurrence of which
    the organisers have not wilfully or culpably contributed. The Organizer shall inform of the cancellation of the event by email, to the address which was made known at the time of registration, or even only via the website www.faustocoppi.net or other social media channels. Notice of the cancellation shall be given as soon as possible in order for participants to be informed in good time and thus avoid, as much as possible, any inconvenience
  • Whenever possible and in the absence of risk conditions, the Organiser will postpone the event to another date, giving due notice to participants.
  • However, provided the conditions are present, this does not preclude the right of
    the Organisers to go on with the event changing the routes, in order to avoid dangerous situations for the participants.
  • Should it not be possible to hold the event, for the reasons set out in the previous paragraphs, no reimbursement will be due to the participants

17. ELECTRONIC CHECKS

checks using electronic controls are absolutely compulsory, both at the start and along the various routes.

18. TIMING CHIP

  •  DAILY CHIP rental (at a cost of €5)
  •  Please note: failure to use or incorrect use of the chip will result in participants being excluded from the ranking and time recording.

19. MANDATORY EQUIPMENT

All participants must carry the following equipment with them when entering the starting grids

  • a set of tools for tire/tubular repare
  • a spare inner tube (or tubular)
  • a pump (or can of compressed air) for inflating the tyres
  • a water bohle
  • a survival cover and clothing suitable for high altitudes for sudden changes in weather conditions
  • Chip for electronic control
  • The official commemorative jersey of the 2024 edition of the event
  • For the entire duration of the race all participants must mandatorily wear an approved cycling helmet and must keep their race number both on the frame of their bicycle and on the back of their jersey. Both must be clearly visible at all time.

20. AID STATIONS

6 (six) aid stations will be set up at Santuario di Valmala, La Piaha, Santuario di Castelmagno, Colle Fauniera, Festiona, Madonna del Colleho.

21. ASSISTANCE VEHICLES

assistance by private vehicles following one or more athletes on the race route is strictly forbidden.

22. RULES OF THE ROAD

The roads will be temporarily closed to traffic as per prefectorial decree. Participants must respect the rules of the road at all times. In case of withdrawal from the race it is strictly forbidden to drive downhill in the opposite direction to the race.

23. PARTICIPANT RECOVERY VEHICLES

Pick-up vehicles are provided for participants who decide to abandon the race.
Vans are also provided for loading the bicycles, which may not necessarily be on the same vehicle as their owner.
“ASD Fausto Coppi On The Road” declines all responsibility for damages to bicycles during their transport.

24. MAXIMUM TIME:

Partecipants must arrive in Cuneo in Piazza Galimberti within 10 hours from the official start; Arrivals aver 5 PM will no longer be entered into the ranking.

25. TIME GATES

Monterosso Grana at Km 95 of the Granfondo at 12:30, Festiona at Km 143 of the Granfondo at 15:00. Partecipants passing through Festiona aver 15:00 will be invited to continue on the Fauniera Classic route.

26. ARRIVAL ORDER

Race results will be posted in Piazza Galimberti near the “Chip Point”.

27. RAKING

The rankings will also be published on on www.faustocoppi.net. Aver crossing the finish line partecipants will have to go to the ENDU stand to return the chip witch they previously rented.

28. COMPLAINTS

Any complaints must be received by the jury within the time limits laid down in the regulations of the ACSI Ciclismo sports promotion body

29. PRIZING

Prizes will be awarded to the first man and the first woman of the overall ranking of Granfondo and Mediofondo, as well as the first 3 in each cathegory and the first 3 Cycling Teams with the greatest numbers of partecipants. The award ceremony for the Mediofondo will take place starting at 11.30 a.m., and the Granfondo at around 2.30 p.m.

The Fausto Coppi recognises the following categories:

  • Élite Sport – Ages 19 – 29
  • Master 1 – Ages 30 – 34
  • Master 2 – Ages 35 – 39
  • Master 3 – Ages 40 – 44
  • Master 4 – Ages 45 – 49
  • Master 5 – Ages 50 – 54
  • Master 6 – Ages 55 – 59
  • Master 7 – Ages 60 – 64
  • Master 8 – Ages 65 – 79 (only Medio Fondo for over 70 years old)
  • Élite Women Sport – Ages 19 – 29
  • Master Women 1 – Ages 30 – 39
  • Master Women 2 – Ages 40 – 49
  • Master Women 3 – Ages 50 – 79 (only Medio Fondo for over 70 years old)
  • Physically Challenged category

31. CONDITIONS FOR BEING DISQUALIFIED

Competitors caught …

  • participating with a bib number of another competitor;
  • not wearing the official 2025 commemorative jersey of the event;
  • throwing liher along the route;
  • not respecting the Rules of the Road (1 January 1993);
  • climbing over barriers and/or positioning themselves in a grid other than the one assigned;
  • not respecting the predefined route

… will be disqualified.

32. ETHICAL REQUIREMENTS

by signing and sending the registration form, the competitor,
together with the representative of his team, self-certifies the non-existence of any sporting, civil and/or criminal sanctions or ongoing investigations against them for doping-related offences and declares that they have not taken – and do not take – any substances included in the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) anti-doping list
(http://www.wada-ama.org/Documents/World_Anti-Doping_Program/WADPProhibited-list/2013/WADA-Prohibited-List-2013-EN.pdf) False self-certifications will be prosecuted according to the law. The O.C. also reserves the right to claim damages or take legal action against any competitor whose behaviour is contrary to the ethics of the sport, who tests positive in anti-doping controls, and/or who causes damage to the event’s image. If the competitor belongs to a Sports Association, the laher will be jointly and severally liable for the payment of any penalty.

33. RISKS

the competitor acknowledges;

  • that despite the clear commitment of the organization to guarantee
    participants the maximum safety reasonably possible, there are still residual risks (also called “sporting risks”); which cannot be eliminated because they are intrinsic to the cycling discipline itself;
  • to be aware that many other people will participate in the event, whose level of skill and cycling technique is unknown, and that therefore there could be situations of crowding on the route that could increase the risk of accidents and crashes between participants;
  • to have chosen to participate in the event of their own free will and under their own personal responsibility, aware that, as in any sporting event, there could be risks of injury or accident;
  • to assume full responsibility for the so-called “sporting risk”, making this decision using their good reason and full awareness. The competitor therefore considers themself solely responsible for riding their bicycle during the event in
    question, both along the route of the event and within the area of the event, obviously considering that such responsibility applies both towards himself and towards third-parties. By virtue of this, they ACKNOWLEDGE that the organizers of the event have done everything possible, taking into account the regulations in force and the particular nature of the event and the sporting discipline of
    cycling, to make the event safe and avoid the occurrence of accidents and damage to people and things, also providing for an adequate safety plan in case of need. They release the organizers and all the individuals with various roles in the event in question from any civil, criminal and/or administrative liability for any harmful event that may occur or that their conduct may cause during the
    event. They declare to expressly and specifically accept, pursuant to and for the
    purposes of art. 1341 et seq. of the Civil Code, the clauses referred to in the points of this document.

34. DATA PROCESSING

in relation to the information pursuant to art. 13 of EU Regulation
679/2016, the competitor must declare that they have read the information published on the website www.faustocoppi.net and that they have been informed of the mandatory consent to the processing thereof for the purposes indicated in art. 2) of the aforementioned information. This consent shall be given by ticking the appropriate processing of personal data box on the online registration form. The competitor declares
to be fully aware that failure to consent to the processing of the data for the purposes indicated in art. 2) of the information will make it impossible to proceed with the
registration to the activity in question. By consenting to the processing of their personal data, the competitor expressly authorizes ASD Fausto Coppi on the road, so that the competitor’s data may be transmihed and processed also by third parties that offer services connected and linked to the Granfondo La Fausto Coppi, such as, for example, those involved in recording the times, drawing up and announcing the lists of results as
well as those involved in photographing or filming the competitor. The data will also be
processed by our partners Engagigo Srl and Evodata Srl

  • Pursuant to art. 4 of EU Regulation 679/2016, processing means “any
    operation or set of operations, performed with or without the aid of automated processes and applied to personal data or sets of personal data, such as collection, recording, organization, structuring, storage, adaptation or
    modification, extraction, consultation, use, communication by transmission, dissemination or any other form of making available, comparison or
    interconnection, limitation, cancellation or destruction” of data.
  • In relation to the lists of results and rankings, the publication of photos, videos, audio – and/or video recordings of any kind, the Organizing Commihee
    will use such data and images of the athlete for internal and external use (various publications, sports videos, and on the www.faustocoppi.net website). With regard to images and/or video recordings, the athlete may appear alone or together with other individuals during initiatives promoted by and for the association. The Organization must be authorized by the competitor to carry out the aforementioned processing. The competitor must be informed of the right to revoke the processing, This right can be exercised at any time by sending a wrihen communication to ASD Fausto Coppi on the road, C.so Kennedy 5f, 12100 Cuneo, Italy.

35. VARIATIONS:

the Organizing Commihee of the ASD Fausto Coppi on the road reserves the
right to make changes to these regulations by giving appropriate notice on the www.faustocoppi.net website on the page called NEWS. The www.faustocoppi.net website will be considered the official communication organ of the event.

37. GENERAL RULE

  • The Organizing Commihee declines all responsibility for accidents or damage to people, animals and things, including bicycles, of any kind and nature, that may occur before, during and aver the Granfondo cycling event (i.e. by way of example, but not limited to, those resulting from unfavourable weather conditions, rough or bad road surface, insufficient lighting).
  • Participants who do not already have their own accident insurance policy are strongly advised to activate one.
  • By registering for the Granfondo, the registered participant expressly accepts all the provisions of these regulations and undertakes to indemnify the Organizing Commihee and, in general, the Organization, from any liability and from any claim and/or request for compensation for damage to persons and/or things that may arise from accidents, of any kind and nature, that may occur before, during and aver the Granfondo. In the event that the Organizing Commihee should be defeated by claims and/or requests for compensation from third parties for damage to persons and/or things arising from what is indicated in this article, the registered participant undertakes to compensate the Organizing Commihee and the Organization
  • The registered participant also undertakes to compensate the Organizing Commihee and the Organization in the event of damage to the image and reputation of the overall event, of the Organizing Commihee and the Organization, arising from the behaviour of the registered participant that does not comply with the rules of these regulations and the spirit of the event.
  • By signing the registration form, the competitor expressly declares, under their own responsibility, to be in possession of the medical certificate pursuant to the Ministerial Decree of 18.02.1982, to have read the present regulations, accepting them unconditionally in every point and expresses consent to the use of their personal data pursuant to Legislative Decree no. 196/2003.
